Who we are

Growing up with a farming background, and continuing to farm and operate equipment today, has given me firsthand experience with how equipment is actually used in the field. I understand how operators rely on it, where it fails, and the real cost of downtime when every hour matters. That practical perspective is the foundation of Midwest Engineering Solutions.
Midwest Engineering Solutions is a full-service engineering, design, fabrication, and manufacturing company with deep roots in agriculture, proven expertise in industrial applications, and the versatility to support clients across a wide range of other industries.
MES Provides engineering services for what needs to be designed, and contract manufacturing for what needs to be built.

BACKGROUND

My innovation and engineering mindset started with LEGOs (whose didn't?) and moved into the farm shop soon after, repairing and building the equipment our operation needed. I was fortunate to have an open and never-ending tab at the local welding and repair shop (graciously paid for by my dad and, I'm convinced I'm still working that off to this day.) That open tab let me dream up, design, and build just about anything I wanted: skid loader attachments, truck accessories, and a long list of equipment we needed and utilized around the farm. Beginning in high school, I worked at a local manufacturer in a fabrication and R&D role, designing workstations and custom facility equipment for active production floors.
I went on to study Ag Systems Technology at Iowa State University with a machine option emphasis. CAD, advanced manufacturing, Ag machinery & power management, electrical controls, statics and strength of materials, fluid power, and project management all formed the core of my focus there. Through those same years, I aided in designing and installing seed treatment systems throughout the Midwest for a local engineering firm during summers and any free time I could find.
I then spent several years in agricultural equipment manufacturing, advancing through R&D engineering and design engineering into project engineering and management. That work covered complete product development cycles — concept, design, prototype, manufacturing, validation, and production release — with accountability for customer input, design, cost, schedule, and field performance. I have worked professionally in engineering and design across the agricultural and industrial space since 2013

HOW WE WORK

We take your idea from a concept, a sketch, or just the outline of a problem, and turn it into something real. Our engineering expertise and depth of experience let us build solutions for whatever design challenge you put in front of us.
Because design, analysis, and manufacturing are all controlled by us, our solutions are engineered to be built, implemented, and utilized to the most demanding circumstances. We understand how a part is manufactured, how it is assembled, and how it performs once it's being utilized, and that keeps our work practical, manufacturable, and cost-effective from concept through production.

The capability statement below details our core competencies, engineering disciplines, and manufacturing services.

CORE PRINCIPLES

INNOVATION

Every project starts with the same question: what is the best and most efficient way to solve this problem? The obvious answer is rarely the best one. We apply engineering principles and design concepts in whatever combination gets to the goal in the most efficient way possible, and we are not attached to doing it the way it has always been done. Pushing the limits of what can be built — and how it gets built — is central to everything MES does. That pursuit is INNOVATION.

PRECISION

Attention to detail is not something we reserve for tight-tolerance components. It belongs in the concept phase, in the analysis, in the material selection, in the weldment callouts, and in the conversations we have with you along the way. Getting the details right early is what prevents expensive corrections later, and that discipline — applied across design, analysis, evaluation, and engineering as a whole is PRECISION.

EXCELLENCE

We hold every deliverable to one standard, whether it's a single bracket or a complete machine. Quality work, delivered when we said we'd deliver it, performing the way we said it would perform. No substitutions, no excuses, and no acceptable outcome short of EXCELLENCE.
